June 23rd, 2018 – 3-Hour Endurance Race at Buttonwillow Raceway Park:
New and upcoming driver Stephen Vajda and one of EXR’s very own professional instructors, Josh DeLosier brought home the victory by finishing P1 in the 3-Hour Endurance race at Buttonwillow Raceway. Josh and Stephen were also recognized by NASA as the hard chargers of the event, starting in the 12th position, loosing places halfway through the race, and coming out on top by securing the 8th position out of 30+ cars!
Third race of the season, 4 cars with a total of 8 drivers, 2 hours of daylight and 1 hour of night. The Buttonwillow track is challenging as it is technical and any mistakes made by the driver or a fellow driver on track, can cause a dust storm making it hard for everyone on track to see clearly. Our driver lineup consisted of:
#8: David Perisset / Nick Iarossi
#44: Dan Saltsburg / Frank Mechaly
#88: Rob Bramlette / David Mathey
#10: Stephen Vajda / Josh DeLosier
Car’s #8 & 10 had a strategy- David started off the stints for his car and Josh started off for his, both driving for one hour and 30 minutes, keeping the driver changes and pit stops to a minimum. Their strategies brought them to victory by securing 1st and 2nd place. Car’s #44 & 88 had a different strategy, each driving for 30 minutes then pulling in for a driver change and fueling. While they too had a good strategy, the other two teams came out on top because of their minimal stops. Every single driver showed great skill by pulling off flawless moves on track and every driving mistake, only made them better the next lap around.
P1: Stephen Vajda / Josh DeLosier
P2: David Perisset / Nick Iarossi
P3: Rob Bramlette / David Mathey
P4: Dan Saltsburg / Frank Mechaly
All our drivers that were a part of this weekend drove their hearts out and really made the EXR Series proud, we can’t wait for round 4 at Utah Motorsports Campus the first week in August!
