August 4th, 2018 – 6-Hour Endurance Race at Utah Motorsports Campus with NASA:
The NASA 6-hour endurance race started at 6pm, first one to cross the finish line at midnight, was proclaimed the winner. There were 46 cars overall, 13 cars in class, EXR Series had a total of 3 cars, and 7 drivers:
(#57) UFD – Urban Rebel – Exotics Racing #1:
Bill Hynes
Richard McIntosh
Roger Eagleton
(#10) Exotics Racing #2:
Stephen Vajda
Josh DeLosier
(#88) Exotics Racing #3:
Rob Bramlette
Romain Thievin
During practice on Friday, our #57 car had contact with another driver in a BMW, removing the whole right front panel of the car. Our mechanics worked vigorously to repair the damages and get the car back on track the next day for qualifying and the endurance race.
All our drivers delivered strong lap times in the qualifying session: Josh DeLosier with a 2:11.66, Romain Thievin with a 2:12.77 and Roger Eagleton with a 2:12.94.
At the start of the race, Romain made his way up a few positions, securing his position at the front of the pack. Car #57 & #10 had mechanical issues and had to stay in the pits for 15-20 laps.
Our pit stops, and driver change strategy made a big impact on the #88 car continuing to move up the leader board.
Not only did the EXR Series receive a 1st place in class and 7th place overall, but it was also Rob Bramlette’s first podium finish for our Series! Congratulations to all our drivers, they did an amazing job. We can’t wait to do it again next month at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, September 14-15th!
